Dear fellow members,
This is your reminder to sign up for the best picnic and fish-tail, tall-tale telling event of the year, our 118th Annual EHFGC Shad Bake. Friends and family are welcome!
Fire smoked and roasted shad fillets and all the fixings will be served on Sunday, May 22nd at Martin Pond at noon.
Rain or shine. This is New England where there is no such thing as foul weather, only inappropriate clothing. Casual “picnic” attire is appropriate for the Shad Bake.
*** We need attendees to start signing up to get a head count for the event. Log into the club website, click the Calendar/Event feature. Then select “Calendar” (again) from the drop down options and it will open an event calendar. Click on “Shad Bake” on May 22 and it will open your registration.***
The event is an old-style New England shad bake and a wonderful club tradition! CT Shad fillets slow cooked over open coals with the fixings. Hamburgers and hot dogs for the faint of heart along with salads and sides. Shad roe for the adventurous. Homemade Strawberry shortcake for dessert. Picnic tables under a tent beside Martin Pond. Beer, Soft Drinks and Water provided. Bring appetizers and wine to share if you like. Families and guests (including well-behaved 4-legged companions) are welcome. $25 a head.
The pond will be open to fish. Come early to wet a line or to help a kid catch their first trout.
If you have any questions or issues with sign ups, email Brian First and he will take care of it for you. [email protected]
I hope to see you on the 22nd!
Mike
